Selection principles stainless steel fasteners

Fasteners are machine parts, in great demand, typically bolts, screws, rivets, or the like in order to ensure safety in general do not consider the adverse effects of environmental temperature or other dangerous conditions. Commonly used materials are carbon steel, low alloy steel and nonferrous metals. However, in certain situations, fastener material needs to meet the conditions of severe corrosion or high intensity, there are a lot of stainless steel and ultra high strength stainless steel came into being.

This paper briefly describes the fine stainless steel fasteners for production. Most materials can be made of stainless steel wire or rod for fasteners, austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, precipitation hardening stainless steel.

Selection principle

Choose stainless steel mainly from the following five aspects to consider.

1, the material of the fastener in mechanical properties, especially strength requirements;

2, the working conditions of the aspects of corrosion resistance material requirements;

3, the working temperature on the heat resistance (high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance) requirements;

4, the production process for material processing performance requirements;

5, other aspects, such as weight, price, purchase various factors must be considered.
